  • The Reason for God: Belief in an age of Skepticism
  • We will discuss the recent book by Timothy Keller, The Reason for God. You may read the book before you come or you may listen as we share a summary of the chapter. We will learn about apologetics (defending the Christian faith) as we critique Keller's assumptions and his conclusions. Our goal is that you will be better equipped to understand your own beliefs and to listen and share with others.

 Bible Studies

Mid-Week Bible Study/Discussion Group Opportunities

We have four Bible studies meeting this semester.

Tuesday evenings at 7:00pm - Topic: 1 Kings

Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm - Topic:  The Gospel of Mark

Heart of a Servant

"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who... made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant."  Do you have a heart to serve?  Are you looking to grow in your personal relationship with the Lord?  Come to Wednesday night Bible study here in the chapel and learn about how Jesus served when He was on earth.  We will start our study in the Gospel of Mark, and there will even be opportunities to serve during the course of the semester.  We'd love for you to join us!  Feel free to contact Andrew Sheffield (
asheffield@wisc.edu) or Dan Yogerst (dan.yogerst@gmail.com) if you have any questions.

Wednesday evenings at 7:00pm - International Bible study - Topic:  "What is so amazing about Grace?"

Thursday night Bible study 7:00- The Truth Project with leaders Jacob Eichers and Andy Lahr.

What is truth? Where did evil come from? Does God care about our suffering? Christians and non-believers alike struggle with these types of questions daily. Our culture, especially in Madison, bombards us with its own answers, and the voice of Christianity is all too often pushed aside. The Truth Project is a video series that seeks to tackle these kinds of questions from a Biblical point of view. Join Andy and Jacob as they explore and discuss the materials of the Truth project."

 International Friendship Center

Monday-Friday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (plus some evening classes)

The International Friendship Center (IFC) is an outreach of Calvary Lutheran Chapel and has been intentionally reaching out to internationals on the UW campus since the early 1980's. From its beginning of Bible studies and shared meals, the ministry has grown into a formal gathering place known as the International Friendship Center. The IFC has become a kind of "home away from home" for many internationals studying and living in Madison. As our name implies, the ministry of the International Friendship Center is very much a ministry of friendship.

If you are an international student or family member, stop by anytime for conversational English discussion groups, Bible studies, and classes. If you'd like to volunteer at the IFC, stop by and talk with Judy Henke.

A current schedule of classes can be found on the IFC's web page  www.ifcmadison.org
