Dan Anderson

Daniel Anderson was born and raised in New Jersey. He eventually moved to Long Island
where he met his wife, Holly, while attending The Stony Brook School, a Christian College Prep
school founded in 1927. After graduating from Stony Brook, they both attended Christ for the
Nations, a Bible college in Stony Brook. After being married in 1989, they began their early
married life by spending almost a year in Malaysia and Singapore as missionaries in 1990. In
1992, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin after receiving a call to be music director at Bethesda
Christian Fellowship. Dan served at Bethesda for six years and then served as music director
for several other local churches after that. While serving as music director, he was also involved
in various ministries to the UW Madison campus. Additionally, Dan was a professional touring
musician traveling alone and with several different bands throughout the United States while
also teaching private piano, guitar and songwriting lessons. He owned and operated Boxcar
Studios where he was engineer and producer for eight years. He continues to be active in the
music world composing and performing regularly.

In 2003, Dan became the music director at Calvary Lutheran Chapel on the UW Madison
campus. He served nine years as music director and then entered the SMP program, through
Concordia St. Louis, to train to become the pastor at Calvary. He served as vicar at Calvary
beginning in 2012 and was ordained in August of 2015 at Mt. Olive Church in Madison. He was
then installed as pastor at Calvary in September of 2015. Dan received a call to be Calvary
Chapel’s pastor in December of 2018. He accepted that call and was installed on February
of 2019. All in all, he has served Calvary and been a part of the community for 17 years.

Dan and Holly have two children and one grandchild. Their daughter, Grace, lives with her
husband, Michael, in Madison. In December of 2019, Grace and Michael welcomed the birth of
their son, Sterling. Dan and Holly are thrilled to be first-time grandparents. Their son, Ryan,
recently moved back to Madison from Oshkosh. They are happy to be able to connect with him
on a more regular basis, now that he is in the same city. Holly is currently employed at
American Girl as a graphic design artist. Dan and Holly celebrated their 30th wedding
anniversary in May of 2019. They enjoy spending time camping at their property in Wild Rose,
WI when they have a chance to get away.
